This is an Amazing Pair of. Royal Vienna Porcelain Vases Hand-painted Signed by Hans Zatzka, ca 1900. Matching pair of Royal Vienna porcelain handled vases, hand-painted by the listed Austrian artist Hans Zatzka. Both vases with painted panels portraying whimsical ladies and cherubs on a forest setting with beautiful enameled colors, signed in script Katzka, heavily gilt decoration on floral pattern and on the Art Nouveau full-size handles. The vase is marked underneath with the characteristic mark for the famed Royal Vienna pottery, model number 1952 in gilt.
Each measures: 27 cm high by 14,5 cm handle to handle. An absolute most for collectors!
A portrait, landscape, and still life artist, Zatzkas work was often used to decorate church interiors. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Vienna for five years, perfecting his rich Classicist style under Carl von Blaas, Christian Ludwig Griepenkerl, and Carl Wurzinger. He is credited for popularizing a smaller canvas size for placement in cramped spaces, which became sought-after throughout European homes early in the 20th century. As a preternaturally prolific painter, Zatzka often signed his pieces under the names P.(Pierre) (de) Ronsard or J. (Joseph) Bernard, or a host of other pseudonyms in order to sell more work out of stipulated contractual agreements. We try to present the merchandise as accurately as possible.
