I'm very excited to offer this incredible, restored PAIR of c. 1910's era industrial-look pendants featuring signed Holophane glass shades!
This listing is for TWO fixtures. These fixtures, from about 1910, are in fantastic vintage condition with a nicely mottled patina that plated metals can only acquire through decades of oxidation. I have not polished them as to preserve their time worn color, but they did get a thorough cleaning. There are some minor surface irregularities, but this can be expected from any fixtures from this era. Fixtures like this are special, as they are representative of the kind of lights that would have been utilized in the service area of a home like a kitchen, attic, back hallway, laundry room, etc. And were regarded as a utilitarian items in their day, treated like they were nothing special. Lights like these are often tossed in renovations and are not easy to come by in good condition anymore. The sockets are original and in great shape, and the wiring is new - cloth covered like the original would have been. The shades, shade holders, chain, and canopies are original. The ribbed, signed holophane shades are fantastic.
They disperse light very well and suit the fixtures nicely. The deep molded pattern in the glass shows nicely lit or unlit. Save the typical, expected fitter end flea bites, they are free of damage. The scale of these makes them ideal for a small to medium sized room, measuring at about 8 inches in diameter at the bottom rim of the shade, and 32 inches long.
The canopies are about 5 inches in diameter and will amply cover a modern junction box - an important consideration when thinking of installing vintage lighting. I can adjust the length to make these shorter (removing up to a maximum of 17 of chain) if need be without much fuss, and I can make them longer as well, but only by replacing the original chain for new. If length adjustments are needed for your intended installation, please let me know BEFORE purchasing - I'm happy to work with you to see if we can make it happen! I picture these in a kitchen, laundry room, a hallway, over a stairhall landing/common space, or perhaps in a larger closet. These are quite versatile light fixtures that would work in just about any space. They definitely have a steampunk/industrial vibe, and would probably work in a modern space as well. The sale includes all the necessary mounting hardware, light bulbs are not included. I go to great lengths to ensure that each of my customers has a positive experience purchasing one of my lights, and I love seeing and hearing from them after they've installed their new-to-them pieces.I love to see my lights in their new forever homes - send photos!
