Superb Pair Of Antique Chinese Huanghuali Wood Marble Stand Signed & Dated 1779

  

Superb pair of antique Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Reign. Huanghuali wooden and Dali marble stands. Signed and dated Qing Dynasty the year of Ji Hai.

The beautiful pair of huanghuali stands are almost flawless. One of the Dali marble tops has natural design of a cliff overlooking a river. One resembles streams running through grasslands. The scenes are natural Dali marble occurrence. Both marble tops are signed and carved with the date Summer of the year Ji Hai which was Qing Qianlong Reign or 1779.

There are red seals next to the carved text. The wooden tops of the stands are made to accommodate the marble with concave shapes. The legs are carved slightly round on the outside. The horizontal wood supports are carved slightly smaller on the ends. Four pieces of carved stands beneath the legs.

The stands are made using tongue and groove method. Amazing almost flawless condition as the stands are about 250 years old. Chinese scholars were fond of natural formation in Dali marble designs and they also loved the rare huanghuali wood. This pair of stands fit everything an educated scholar wanted.

The stands are very rare and in spectacular condition. Please check out the photographs for detail. They were bought in Beijing and hand carried back to Australia more than 50 years ago.
