REDUCED SALE price is a GORGEOUS PAIR OF ANTIQUE FRENCH MINIATURE HAND PAINTED SIGNED PORTRAITS! Housed in their fabulous and fancy ORIGINAL FRAMES, this exquisite pair is a DELIGHT to behold, depicting two beautiful hand painted young women in miniature, making them the PERFECT accessory item for display in your antique French FASHION DOLL salon or showcased on the wall of a larger scale DOLLHOUSE or ROOM BOX vignette! The paintings are of FRENCH ORIGIN, evidenced by the old papered backs with French print and we estimate from circa 1900 to 1920, possibly earlier. The frames themselves measure a petite 5 3/4" tall and 5" wide, with the oval paintings in the center measuring 3 1/2" tall and 2 3/4" wide, and have inlaid pieces with elaborately hand painted scrolling and beautiful feminine PAINTED ROSES in a sweet shade of French blue on each corner.

The backs of the frames include their original paper with tiny loops on the top for easy hanging, or they are small enough to display as table top pieces. The paintings themselves feature two hand painted portraits of French royalty and are marked on the back of the frames, "QUEEN LOUISE" (in white) and "GRAFIN POTOCKA" (in blue), a French aristocrat also known as "The Comtesse". The portraits are beautifully executed with soft strokes rendering wonderful details and are in lovely rich yet muted colors. The are both ARTIST SIGNED by two different painters; it is hard to tell the names of the signatures, but the painting of the Comtesse appears to read "Skoda" and the one of Queen Louise reads something like "Stele".

Both portraits are protected under their original OVAL GLASS and are also edged in decorative beaded gold metal trim with tiny embossed flowers! With the exception of some areas on the frame where there is some slight lifting of the inlay, the portraits are BEAUTIFULLY PRESERVED condition and ready for display; whether a collector of antique miniature portrait paintings or wanting a lovely addition for your antique French Fashion doll's room vignette, you will LOVE this wonderful set!

For scale purposes we are showing the portraits modeled by both our 13" and 19" antique French Fashion dolls; they are both not included in this offering but will give you an idea of how this pretty pair would look showcased in the salon of your very own Poupee!
