This listing is for an outstanding pair of rare antique Mission wall sconces with signed Steuben Gold Aurene shades. The sconces have shade holders with a patent date of 1896. They are all original with the exception of one socket which is a period correct replacement with a mica base insulator. They have a rare original black finish which has oxidized over time to give them verdigris finish.

This was hard to capture in the pictures, but does show in the up close pictures. The shades are not original to the sconces, but I believe they make a nice high quality pairing. Both shades are signed by Steuben. They are in overall excellent condition. One has a small chip on the fitter rim. The Gold Aurene finish is very high quality, vibrant, and colorful. I have several other antique Steuben and Quezal shades, and the finish on these is superior to the other I have. The fixtures have been fully restored with new wiring, new socket insulation, and all the hardware for installation. The fixtures project around 9 from the wall. This dimension is adjustable, and can be made shorter by a few inches. They are 12 tall including the shades. The backplates are 4-1/2 square. You can use any standard size bulb you would like, 80 watts max.
