It measures 5.5 inches tall by 5.0 inches wide and is in great original and working condition with its cap and chain still present. The second whale oil lamp is a smaller measuring 4.0 inches tall by 3.25 inches wide and crafted in solid pewter with brass tip. It is also constructed with a attached drip pan and finger ring and this piece appears much more older and primitive in design. The finger lamp is in good condition with small dings and scratches to the surface and the finger ring may have been attached or period repaired at some point.
No markings that we can find on this one but a real beauty. A wonderful pair of primitive lighting out of a Colonial New England, New Bedford Massachusetts home. This piece would make a wonderful addition to someones folk art, antique lighting or primitive collection! This is an Ex-Museum Piece which had previously been on display in a Private Collection in Worcester, Massachusetts for many years! A Scarce and highly collectible Piece of History.
