Sometimes you are fortunate enough to come across the amazingly beautiful and rare items here in France, they do not come around all the time and you never forget the moment when you first spot the jewel- these are one of those such items. A pair of bronze candle sconces with Limoges, hand painted porcelain plaques/cartouche - each signed by the artist - F. We have never come across anything similar and it is possible that they were produced as a one off sample pair or as a commissioned pair - and never produced in larger numbers - but of course of that we cannot be sure. They are in the style of Napoleon III, with fine delicate detail to the bronze frame and sconces.

The velvet covered plaques are wood and have been covered professionally- they have card backs, tacked to each. Max height 13.25 /34cms. Projection from wall 5.5/14cms. Porcelain Cartouche each- 6"/15cms x 3.25"/8.25cms (visible). Condition- Superb antique condition - No damage/restoration to porcelain plaques- One of the branches on the bronze sconces has a historical good solid repair (photo inc number 6) Velvet is in good condition, no holes or fading - light rub in a few places. Integral hanging rings on reverse - or of course could be removed and hung directly on wall as holes present in bronze for hanging. NB These are candle sconces & not electrically wired.
