Exquisite pair of antique Japanese Satsuma vases signed by Kusube Sennosuke, a highly regarded Kyoto potter of the Meiji and Taisho periods. Each vase stands 21 cm tall and features beautifully hand-painted moriage enamel work with delicate raised detailing. The elegant design depicts finely detailed birds in flight among flowering branches, accented with vibrant blue blossoms and extensive gilt decoration. The shoulder is richly bordered with stylised chrysanthemums and geometric crests, all set against a warm ivory crackle-glaze ground typical of Kyoto Satsuma ware. Both vases are signed underneath with Kusubeâs red character mark.
