Today they look nearly as good as the day they were made, with just a bit of chipping or light scuffs gained over the decades (see photos where we rotated the fixtures 90 degrees to show all sides). Benjamin referred to these as "elliptical" lights owing to their rims being larger in one diameter than the opposing diameter. As described on the pages from our 1943 Benjamin catalog (see last two photos), these measure 20" in the "A" dimension, 14-3/4" in the "B" dimension, and 19-1/8" in the "C dimension. The gracefully curving rims give them a look you just can't find in other sign lights. These lights come with their original heavy-duty Benjamin sockets.

Those are in pristine condition, just as good as the day they were made. We thoroughly inspected, cleaned, and tested those, and added 3 feet of new wire. Those sockets hold any typical household bulb known as a "medium-base" bulb. We include socket extenders so any modern medium-base bulb (which have shorter necks than the old incandescent bulbs) will reach into the bowl of the shade.

We include a pair of 12 galvanized pipes with these -- you can readily swap those out with similar pipes of any length, available at any hardware store. We also include a very stout cast-aluminum 4 outlet mount with weatherproof gasket and four stainless steel mounting screws. If you choose to mount these on a wall to light a sign located directly below it (rather than hanging the fixture from a ceiling) simply add an elbow between the light fixture and the pipe. The outlet mount is plenty sturdy to hold the fixture with extension arm without sagging. Like all of our vintage light fixtures, these beauties were completely disassembled and refurbished to ensure they work safely and perfectly for another 60+ years!

Each fixture, with pipe and outlet mount, measures 30 long and weighs 6.6 pounds. Refurbished to the highest standards. We carefully disassemble each fixture down to the smallest screw, then refurbish each part.

For example, all electrical contact surfaces are cleaned and restored, threaded surfaces are "chased" with taps and dies, and lubricants applied sparingly where needed. We keep the fixtures fully original, only replacing parts when corrosion or safety concerns dictate a new part, such as a new stainless steel screw in place of an old rusted one, or a new safe gasket in place of an old asbestos one. Restored and preserved to retain their natural and intrinsic vintage look. We don't "wring the romance" from fixtures by excessively removing all traces of patina.

Instead, metal surfaces are cleaned lightly but completely while preserving the natural patina gained over decades. The parts are then treated to retain the patina and prevent future corrosion.
