Pair 1930s French Art Deco Wall Sconces Signed Noverdy Lights Glass Muller Era
A pair of original and signed Art Deco Noverdy heavy glass wall sconces. Sourced in France where they were made in the 1930s, these two are not in their original frames, but still extremely beautiful and very evocative of this glamorous era of design. There are one or two chips along the sides where they have been slid in and out of their frames over the years, and also one along the top. The listing is for the frame and glass only, and will need to be mounted over a wired-in light fitting in the wall. Measurements are maximum 30cm (12") high by 23cm (9") wide by 12cm (just under 5) depth. Weight of each is 1.44kg (3lb 1oz). Using the same moulding techniques as Daum Frères, Delatte and Muller, he also created acid-etched vases and shades made of coloured enamels. In 1926, 27 and 28 he was selected to exhibit at the Salon de la Société des Artists Français in Paris, a showcase of the very best of contemporary French design which began in 1893 and still takes place annually today.
