Large Well Cast Pair Signed Meiji Japanese Bronze Candlesticks Ashinga &Tenaga
These are a well cast large pair of Bronze Meiji period three branch candlesticks. They depict Ashinga and Tenaga the long-legged and log-armed men often seen with Ashinga wading out from the shore his long legs keeping him above the water while Tenaga rides on his back using his long arms to grab fish, a picture of cooperation. They have good detail and both are signed Sanji in a rectangular reserve. Original condition, one branch has had a historic repair (see photo10). These are great fun and a fantastic talking piece. They would look equally good on display or gracing a dinning table. An international postal quote is probably a good idea. I have quite a few good quality pieces of japanese art, netsukes and Okimono currently for sale. With more to follow over the next few weeks, so please check my other items regularly!
