Rich raised gold enamel encrusted borders with beaded'jewel' like garland and the center aquatic scenes are framed in a gold frieze style band of hearts, those are hearts, right? Each plate has a unique hand painted scene, artist signed with what appears to be E. Bayley though I could be mistaken.
The backs bear the Minton mark and are also double marked for the Chicago retailer Spaulding & Company. Also on the back is the plate or design number and the ID of each species, Carp on one and Fench on the other. A beautiful decorative pair, don't miss them. No chips or cracks to note, no repairs and the paintings are both as vivid as if they were painted yesterday. A little bit of crazing visible on the backs (see close ups of the marks).
