The veneer is dried up and peeling on the sides of one dresser and there are a few drink rings and cigarette burns as well. The leather wrapped handles are in very good condition with only minor scuffs. But for being 80 years old they are still beautiful pieces of modern furniture history in their original state. Gilbert Rohde was an industrial designer and the design director for Herman Miller in the 1930's-1940's until George Nelson took over the position in 1948.
He was responsible for their avant garde designs in a move away from the old borax designs of the past. He moved Herman Miller into the future with his simple, modern, high quality designs. He believed the philosophy that form = function and should not be over adorned, carved & ornate in any way. This listing is for the pair of dressers. Each dresser is 40"w x 38"h x 18d.
