C1880, SIGNED YOSHIDA ZO KYOTO, LARGE PAIR ANTIQUE MEIJI JAPANESE BRONZE VASES. A large and stylish pair of antique Japanese twin handled bronze vases, signed to the base for Yoshida of Kyoto, and. Dating to the late 19th Century Meiji period, circa 1880.
The vases, of a good deep caramel patina, are cast in fine detail featuring birds flying amongst cherry blossom, the shoulders with'dripping honey' decoration, all on a complexed textured ground. The necks are mounted with twin elephant head handles, with both neck and base featuring a ring of sixteen-petalled chrysanthemum flowers. The underside of the base features the signature within an applied panel. Height: 36.8 cm or 14 3/8 inches.
Width: 14.5 cm or 5 1/2 inches. Unpackaged weight: 5.0 kg. In good antique condition, without damage or restoration.
