The top of the vases are round, the bottom are rectangular with the handles on two sides and relief of 4 characters with gold gilt. One character is a man riding a gigantic carp with a gold gourd in his hand, one is a devil looking man trying to catch something in the ocean from the sky with a hook on a very long string, one is a man with an umbrella on his back, a small hammer in one hand, a small gang hanging from his neck and in another hand, the last character is a woman in traditional Japanese kimono and a gold hat, looks like shes on the road to somewhere.

All the characters are vivid and with gold gilt, with amazing details and facial expressions. The two vases are in the same design with slight differences. You can still tell they were a pair because the carvings were done in the same way. Both vases were signed on the bottom with different marks.

The bottom bases were slightly different too. One is 11/28 CM tall, one is 11.25/28.5 CM tall.
