This is an antique Japanese mid Showa Era c. 1940 hand painted pair of vases by the famous Japanese artist, Shozan of the Fukagawa kiln.

They feature hand painted bamboo in red. It is signed by Shozan on both pieces (see pictures 2 & 3).

On the bottom of both pieces is the Fukagawa mark a stream flowing by the base of mt. Tall by by 4 wide (28.5 x 10 cm). They have been well used yet well loved and remain in excellent condition.
