Antique Pair Meiji Period Signed Japanese Charging Elephants Bronze Sculpture

  

Lot of 2 charging elephants, excellent condition and very detailed casting, signed on the bottom of one of the feet, appears to be made of cast bronze but exact materials used are unknown, there are some light scratches on the bottom of the feet that reveal a brass tone. There is some surface patina, and very few minor light imperfection and surface rubs, few minor surface flaws. The tusks are removable, they sit inside the hole and stay attached for display but are not glued. The size of each elephant is approx.

15" wide x 7" tall x 4. Includes two elephants, as pictured. The elephants stand balanced on two of their legs, giving them the ability to rock from front to back.
