Antique Pair Meiji-period Japanese Satsuma Mythical vases signed Kashida Kouitsu

  

An earthenware vase, of bottle neck form. 1868 - 1912, late 19th century.

The body decorated with an array of mythological depictions including Ho-o Phoenix, Foo Lion and Butterflies and flowers in motif form. The work applied in beautiful enamels with fine gilt detailing.

Signed "Kashida Kouistu" in a calligraphy seal to each vase. Some rubbing to the gilding.
