These vases have hexagonal shape with intricate engraved gold work. The paneled body features a large figural scene with women and another featuring men on the reverse all hand painted in polychrome enamels.

There are two medallions on each side with figures in between the larger designs. Each vase has an unidentified painted mark with mon that is covered by two old paper labels which we have elected to leave in place but can easily be removed by new owner if desired. Measures 4 3/4" high with a 1 3/8" diameter mouth and an overall width of about 2.

Combined weight of 12.3 ounces. These nice vases ares in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. The elaborate enameling and gold work are also without flaws. There is faint crazing on the vase which is commonly found on Satsuma pottery pieces. History: Satsuma is a yellowish earthenware usually decorated with detailed Japanese figures with expressive facial features. This ware was generally created for the export marked of the mid-19th Century to cater to Western markets.
