Gorgeous pair of Antique Japanese Signed Meji Period Gilt Bronze Vases with Silver Rims. These pair of gilded bronze vases each of tapering cylindrical form with steep shoulder and narrow neck with everted lip, decorated with the Shichifukujin (Seven Gods of Good Fortune) in kebori and silver, gold and shakudo hon-zogan, signed to the side "Shinzan". Extra notes: The Japanese Shichifukujin, shichi (seven) fuku (luck) jin (beings), have been a very popular group of deities since the Edo period. The contrast of the figures on the gold ground works especially well I must say, combined with the slender shape of vases. Minor signs of age and use consistent with age.
Expected surface wear and consistent with age. Silver wear on rim some gilt wear on vases. Measures: 8.5 tall 4 inches wide.
