This is an extremely RARE Pair of original fashion illustrations by Eduard Josef Wimmer-Wisgrill in pencil and watercolor on paper. They were drawn in 1912 for Wiener Werkstatte. The Ronald S Lauder Neue Gallery in NYC , which holds the famous Gustav Klimt " Portrait of Adele Bloch Bauer" has a collection of some of the other original drawings as well as the postcards that were made from them in limited editions.

He was a versatile artist who worked in various avenues, including fashion, decorative arts, theatre, and interior design. He was also a professor at several institutions throughout his long career. Wimmer-Wisgrill first attended the Handelsakademie (Commercial Academy), then the Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Applied Arts), where he studied under Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser, and Alfred Roller from 1901 to 1907. Wimmer joined the Wiener Werkstätte in 1907 and served as first artistic director of the fashion department from 1910 to 1922. For the Wiener Werkstätte, Wimmer was active in almost every area of design, but his strength was in the area of fashion; he was once described as the Poiret of Vienna.

He contributed designs for furniture, metalwork, jewelry, fashion and accessories, textiles, leather, and bookbinding, and was a contributor to. His work ah-Bauer s a postcard designer appears to coincide with the Wiener Werkstätte fashion exhibition, which took place at the Hohenzollern Kunstgewerbehaus in Berlin in 1912. Wimmer designed ten fashion postcards for the Wiener Werkstätte. Frames and glass not included.
