LALIQUE OPALESCENT PLATE SIGNED COQUILLES PATTERN No 3012. A striking PAIR of early 20th century Art Deco French glass plate, the frosted surface with geometric engraved pattern and raised scallop shells exhibiting fine deep sky blue opalescent colour, signed R Lalique. A Rene Lalique opalescent glass plate in the coquilles pattern.

The coquilles design is one of the most recognisable of Lalique's designs of the Art Deco period and a must have for any collection. This example is the plate form (with the bowls being more common) and is model No. 3012 (which is hand etched on the base) in the Lalique catologue dating to the 1920's.

The opalescence on this example is more concentrated towards the base of the shells and tapers off towards the outer shell pattern. They are raised up on four feet at the centre of the scallops.

Note the strong geometric lines, a classic feature of the deco period. A very striking pair of plates for the collector or for special gifts or just because you love them! CONDITION: Excellent with no damage. Both in very good order, wear is very limited. Slight moulding flaws as typical for early production. Diameter: 23.3 cm (8 inch) X 1 height.
