Matching antique gilt frames measure 35 3/4" by 27 3/4" by 2 3/4" with a sight of approximately 29 3/8" by 21 1/2 each. Little is known about this artist other than he was of Swiss or French origin and active in the very late 18th Century (1790's) and into the early-mid decades of the 19th Century. Would guess that the antique frames date to the early-mid 19thC and appear to be original to these paintings. Very nice antique condition with age related wear.Paintings demonstrate some possible yellowing/toning (see pics) and may benefit from a light cleaning; Colors still vibrant. Two small flakes of paint loss (as pictured) in the area of the flute player (blue jacket). Areas of minor, stable craquelure throughout; Some minor separation at the corners of the frames. Overall, in excellent antique condition considering age. Beautiful, finely detailed artwork by a listed, well accomplished artist that's ready to hang on your wall!
